Jaivant Patel Dance


Jaivant Patel Dance is an award winning arts organisation founded in Wolverhampton in 2004. Named after its artistic and creative director Jaivant Patel, a dancer/choreographer, cultural producer and creative consultant. Jaivant trained at Northern School Of Contemporary Dance and has since been incorporating Kathak into his artistic practice. Jaivant is currently under the guidance of global exponent Nahid Siddiqui for Kathak.

Jaivant Patel Dance makes work that ‘challenges the complexities of inherited notions, perceptions and stereotypes surrounding British-Asian identity.’

South Asian dance forms, aesthetics and principles inform and influence the creation of contemporary work targeted at diverse audiences.

Jaivant Patel Dance is the first announced Associate Artist of Arena Theatre, Associate Artist at Midlands Arts Centre and a member of the board of directors for Dance4.

Jaivant is also an invited member of Chisenhale Dance Space.

He is a former Independent Artistic & Quality Assessor for Arts Council England and member of One Dance UK.
